By Darkness Revealed
This is one of the best fantasy novels I've read this year (and I've read dozens).It's exciting, easy to follow, smooth to read, and believable.I particularly like the system of magic the author invented for this book; it strikes me as consistent and plausible. I found it easy to suspend any disbelief in the fantasy elements because everything else (e.g. life at a military college) is conveyed in a authentic way with attention to realistic details.
